acoustic world pop WITH SACRED INFUSIONS

Blue Mary aims to uplift and celebrate our diverse identity through their music. The name was inspired by communication and the speaking of higher truths and stories, 'Blue' symbolises communication in eastern philosophy, and 'Mary' represents the divine feminine.

Led by vocalist /songwriter Maria Mitar and producer, Richard Petkovic, Blue Mary creates sacred pop music fusing strong melodies, thoughtful ‘conscious’ lyrics, and world instrumentation, representing the cultural diversity of Australia.

Blue Mary’s live shows are a captivating and engaging experience, ranging from intimate acoustic settings, supported by world percussion (African, Kurdish or Indian percussion), acoustic guitar, mandolin, harmonium and upright bass. They also perform as an electric ensemble, adding layers of percussion over the punch of the western drum kit and electric guitar, supported by guest artists from world music backgrounds.

Audiences are taken on a cultural and sonic journey with their contemporary music fusions inviting guest artists such as Sufi vocalist, Oud player and world Whistling Champion, Asim Gorashi or Mongolian throat singer/horse fiddler Bukhu Gamburged, to name a few.
